HOW WE WORK

Typical Path to a Beautiful New Kitchen

Our projects typically fall into 2 categories for rooms throughout the home.

  • Design and deliver – cabinetry is delivered to the home and we work with your contractor who incorporates the installation into the scope of their work.
  • Sub-contract – we design, deliver and install cabinetry and other elements of the project working in sync with your contractor and or architect on the project. The majority of projects work this way where we are part of a team.

DISCOVERY

Clients typically hear of us through referral or long standing relationships with contractors, architects and designers. Some find us by our downtown Madison location, word of mouth or see an ad on print media. Our online presence and social media also directs clients our way including manufacturer websites. However you got here we are grateful you are giving us a look.
02

SHOWROOM VISIT

Most projects start at our showroom to meet and discuss the details and desires of your particular project. A look-see at the displays and samples often stimulates ideas and gives folks a sense of what we do. We can determine the scope of the project and the best way our company can help you proceed. Please give a call ahead so we can be here for you.
03

SURVEY

If remodeling or renovating we arrange to go to the site to measure, photograph, check for level and plumb, see existing conditions as well as existing storage configurations. We take time to discuss ideas and examine any photos or online idea books you may have. At this point a simple design agreement will be in place and we will have collected a modest fee to begin the design process. If new construction we review and discuss your architects plans and your ideas.
04

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND PRELIMINARY PLAN

We bring together a confluence of the ideas and dimensions to create a floor plan of the space – typically with a few options to discuss and review together. We propose a cabinetry layout and may produce elevations to illustrate the layout. The drawings are typically AutoCAD based. After reviewing a preliminary plan with options, it is not uncommon to meet further to detail and discuss appliances, fixtures and other elements. At these meetings we typically look to confirm specifications, style, finish and other details.
05

REVISE AND PRESENT PRELIMINARY BUDGET

Plans are revised and we present an estimate for the work as we have it specified to date. This is typically not the end of the process, as design tweaks, value engineering and other details such as appliances, counter tops, tile and plumbing fixtures are incorporated. This seemingly daunting part of the journey is another thing we excel at, whether working directly with our design team or having us coordinating appointments on your behalf with our vendor network.
06

CONTRACT AND ORDER

Bringing it all together to get things moving. We meet and finalize, order cabinetry and start scheduling.
07

DELIVERY, INSTALLATION, TEMPLATE, PUNCH LIST

Plan long and build fast is an old adage but it is true for cabinetry and kitchen work. There is a flurry of activity as things go together. We give much attention to detail but it is not uncommon to have some punch list items to get to the final brush stroke. Rest assured; we have a proven system for this.
